10-day Road Trip on France’s Cote d’Azur

by Vero

Madrid – Girona – Peratallada

Starting from Madrid, our road trip took us to Girona, where we explored the charming city and visited friends. The next day, we headed to Perpignan. For an unforgettable coastal adventure, start from Barcelona or Marseille and rent a car to follow the scenic route.

Perpignan – Castelnou

We embarked on our road trip to Perpignan. It's a lovely city, perfect for walking. Must-see attractions include Casa Xanxo, Loge de Mer, Saint Jean Baptiste Cathedral, cemetery and funeral home chapel, Castillet, Pairal House (Catalan museum), and the city walls.

Lagrasse – Carcassonne

A village surrounded by vineyards and hills. Its medieval architecture transports you back in time. Explore the fairytale-like castle and catch the mesmerizing sunset over the citadel from a bridge on the Aude River.

Minerve – St Guillem le Desert – Montpellier

Village nestled in a natural canyon formed by the Brian River. St. Guilhem le Desert offers a serene atmosphere, surrounded by lush mountains, perfect for strolling its medieval streets and enjoying a drink.

Montpellier – Nimes

Offers attractions like its historic center, Place de la Comédie, St Pierre Cathedral, and the trendy Antigona district. In nearby Nimes, don't miss the well-preserved Roman amphitheater and Maison Carrée.

Stretch between Orange – Avignon

Orange, known for its Roman Theatre, a UNESCO site, deserves a day's visit. Avignon, the medieval capital of Christianity, boasts the Palace of the Popes and the iconic St Bénezet Bridge.

Things to Do in Marseille

A city with over 2600 years of history, for at least two days. Don't miss the fish market, Old Port, Le Panier, Soap Museum, Lighthouse Palace, and Notre-Dame de la Garde. Enjoy the beaches too!

St Tropez – Cannes

Admire St Tropez's colorful port and explore Cannes' pier, bay, Le Suquet district, and Promenade de la Croisette. France offers more captivating destinations.

Monaco – St Agnes – Eze – Grasse

Explore the enchanting villages of St Agnes, Grasse, and Eze, which captivated us more than Monaco. Grasse, the perfume capital, impressed us with its medieval charm and fragrance heritage.
