In today&#8217;s post, I will tell you about what to see in the surroundings of Edinburgh and on the way to Stirling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it&#8217;s the turn of the stretch between Edinburgh and Stirling. Let&#8217;s start!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Many Miles are between Edinburgh and Stirling?<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/edinburgh-to-stirling-scotland-road-trip-4-400x600.jpg\" alt=\"Scotland's Road Trip: Stretch from Edinburgh to Stirling\" class=\"wp-image-19541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/edinburgh-to-stirling-scotland-road-trip-4-400x600.jpg 400w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/edinburgh-to-stirling-scotland-road-trip-4.jpg 667w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-in-edinburgh-scotland\/\">Edinburgh<\/a><\/strong> to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/things-to-do-stirling-scotland\/\">Stirling<\/a><\/strong> are about <strong>40 miles<\/strong> away (about 65 km).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The non-stop journey can take between 1.15 hours and 1.45, depending on your chosen road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As it is a road trip with many interesting places to visit, you will make a few stops. Let&#8217;s start!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best Things to do Between Edinburgh &amp; Stirling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Royal Yacht Britannia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing we saw on this road trip day was the Royal Yacht Britannia, which was the royal family&#8217;s yacht on their travels abroad from 1953 to 1997, which was retired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decoration is from 1950 and gives you an idea of the tastes of royalty at that time. Looking at the picture, who would say you&#8217;re on a boat?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is located in Ocean Terminal. From my point of view, if you are not very much a fan of boats, it is a visit that you can skip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Midhope Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Honestly, we arrived at this small castle by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/outlander-film-locations-in-scotland\/\">Outlander TV show<\/a><\/strong>. This little castle is Lallibrook. Only the exterior was used for the show.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Lallybrook-Midhope-Castle.jpg\" alt=\"lallybrook - outlander - outsider\" class=\"wp-image-5203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Lallybrook-Midhope-Castle.jpg 533w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Lallybrook-Midhope-Castle-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Lallybrook-Midhope-Castle-400x600.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>There is not much to see in the vicinity of Midhope Castle; right below, a factory uses the castle as a warehouse, and there are many grouse on the sides of the road. But it is a Must-Visit place for Outlander fans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Blackness Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We continue with the outlander TV show locations. It&#8217;s supposed to take place in the highlands, but I imagine that they have used many locations near Edinburgh, like this castle, for convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Fort-William-Blackness-Castle.jpg\" alt=\"fort-william-blackness-castle - Outlander\" class=\"wp-image-5209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Fort-William-Blackness-Castle.jpg 800w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Fort-William-Blackness-Castle-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Fort-William-Blackness-Castle-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Blackness Castle is a fortress in a privileged location. To get there, you have to continue on a narrow road, with this wonderful view, the cloudy sky seems a little baleful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Linlithgow Palace<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another palace appears in Outlander. They are very cool places with a lot of history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Falkirk Wheel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we have visited an engineering work very interesting. In addition, we saw it on the outside, but we also got on and took a boat along the canal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishcanals.co.uk\/falkirk-wheel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Falkirk Wheel<\/strong> <\/a>is a kind of boat elevator. It was created so that the boats can go from one canal to another, which is about 35 meters high!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Falkirk-wheel.jpg\" alt=\"Falkirk wheel. It&#8217;s really funny. It&#8217;s a different visit to Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. The Kelpies in Falkirk<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, in Falkirk, we visit these two giants. The Kelpies are two sculptures of horses&#8217; heads about 30 meters high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Named after Scottish mythology, kelpies are aquatic creatures that are usually depicted as horses.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/kelpies-falkirk.jpg\" alt=\"the kelpies of falkirk. The Awesome Stirling Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After a few stops, we arrived in Stirling. The first thing we did was visit its spectacular castle because we were a little late, as you&#8217;ll imagine, after so many visits.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/castillo-stirling.jpg\" alt=\"castle-stirling\" class=\"wp-image-5911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/castillo-stirling.jpg 800w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/castillo-stirling-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/castillo-stirling-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>As I read on the Lonely Planet, comparing Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Castle is inevitable! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From my point of view, Stirling&#8217;s I liked the most, but do I think it was because there were few people, or because I like unicorns or crossing paths with people dressed in vintage?<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/castillo-stirling-2.jpg\" alt=\"The unicorn is a symbol of Scotland. And the truth is, it deserves a post for itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. The Village of Stirling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/things-to-do-stirling-scotland\/\">Stirling is the gateway to the Highlands<\/a><\/strong>. If you like cemeteries, you will cross with two.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/iglesia-stirling.jpg\" alt=\"Church in the historic center of Stirling. From our room, we had <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/places-to-stay-stirling-scotland\/\">views of the William Wallace Monument<\/a><\/strong>. It&#8217;s at Stirling University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s a little retired if you don&#8217;t have a car, but the room was perfect for the price (42 pounds), all new and modern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see all <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booking.com\/searchresults.html?city=-2608742&amp;aid=910006&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=1&amp;label=edinstirlingeng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">accommodations<\/a><\/strong> in Stirling here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to Eat cheaply in Stirling?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We had coffee and cake at The Ground House. The cakes were delicious, plus the place was quiet, and the customer service was also excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Stirling, we found by chance a chain of pubs where you can eat well and cheaply. And it&#8217;s also in Scotland and England, so after this day we looked for it in every location we visited!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pubs are those of the Wetherspoon chain, they haven&#8217;t sponsored us or anything, but they&#8217;re cheap and pretty good. In addition, they are spacious, and the portions are large, but they have no music. It&#8217;s pub food, don&#8217;t expect <em>Haut Cuisine<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had a chicken wrap, potatoes with bacon and cheese, haggis balls, and two pints of beer for 16
