I honestly don\u2019t know how long it would take to visit all the ones left standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, I will tell you a little bit about the <strong>castles in Scotland<\/strong> that we have visited. Yes, it\u2019s about 20 or more! It is located above a hill from which you have a 360 degrees view of the city, and it is so large that it even looks like a village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit to the castle can be done on your own, with a professional guide, or with an audio guide. It is one of those days of the typical Scottish Highland weather. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kilchurn Castle is in ruins and can be visited. It is in a fascinating environment, you arrive by a dirt road, and it is advisable to go with the appropriate footwear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best picture you can take of this castle is not in front of the castle; it is actually from the south shore of loch awe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stalker Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia.jpg\" alt=\"Fotografiar Paisajes, Stalker Castle. castillo de Escocia\" class=\"wp-image-6838\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Stalker-Castle.-Escocia-800x533.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Stalker Castle is located on a lake and, therefore only accessible by boat. We took advantage of this wonderful place to set up the tent and sleep with some unbeatable views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Scotland, camping is free, but you have to carry a sleeping bag by the temperature and be respectful to the environment by not leaving a trace so nobody would notice you\u2019ve been there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sleeping in front of this wonderful castle in Scotland is a blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Urquhart-Castle-Lago-Ness.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Urquhart-Castle-Lago-Ness.jpg\" alt=\"urquhart castle, lago ness, castillos de escocia\" class=\"wp-image-5221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Urquhart-Castle-Lago-Ness.jpg 800w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Urquhart-Castle-Lago-Ness-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Urquhart-Castle-Lago-Ness-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The castle ruins found in <strong>Loch Ness<\/strong> are those of <strong>Urquhart Castle<\/strong>. You can visit this castle surrounded by dark waters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We did the visit along with the boat ride on the Ness. So you take a little tour of the lake, and then you have an hour to visit the castle, and you will be picked up again and visit something more of Loch Ness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inverness Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castillo-de-Inverness-Castillos-de-escocia.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castillo-de-Inverness-Castillos-de-escocia.jpg\" alt=\"Castillo de Inverness - Castillos de escocia\" class=\"wp-image-6868\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castillo-de-Inverness-Castillos-de-escocia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castillo-de-Inverness-Castillos-de-escocia-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castillo-de-Inverness-Castillos-de-escocia-768x561.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Inverness Castle is right in front of a place where we dined beautifully well. It is very well preserved from the outside, but it was late, and we didn\u2019t enter to visit it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From here, however, there are beautiful views of the River Ness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/lake-ness-inverness-scotland\/\"><strong>Inverness<\/strong><\/a> Castle is quite modern and was built in 1836. However, it can only be visited in the summer since the city government offices are inside, and they only allow tourists to visit in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Castle Leod<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castle-Leod-Castillos-de-Escocia.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castle-Leod-Castillos-de-Escocia.jpg\" alt=\"Castle Leod - Castillos de Escocia\" class=\"wp-image-6872\" srcset=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castle-Leod-Castillos-de-Escocia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castle-Leod-Castillos-de-Escocia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/touristear.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Castle-Leod-Castillos-de-Escocia-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Castle Leod is located in the picturesque little village of Strathpeffer in Easter Ross. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the castle where the head of the Mackenzie Clan lived, and the same family has lived in it for over 500 years! It is located in an exceptional place; you reach the castle by a bridge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first fortification in this place is from the thirteenth century to defend itself from the Vikings. You can also make it your place to get married, for a small fee, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s beautiful and deserves a visit. You can reach it on foot, leaving the car in a parking lot next to a lighthouse. The Earl of Sutherland had it built as a summer house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They now have a curious museum with relics and pieces that the family has acquired over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We arrived at Dunrobin Castle on our road trip on the <a href=\"https:\/\/touristear.com\/en\/road-trip-north-coast-500-scotland\/\"><strong>NC500<\/strong><\/a>; it\u2019s a few miles from Inverness. You can visit the inside and the gardens. The name of this castle also gives its name to the Balvenie distillery, where whisky of the same name is made and is a few steps from Glenfiddich Distillery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balvenie Castle is in ruins, but you can visit it. They say this castle inspired Walt Disney to create Cinderella\u2019s castle. It was the home of the Lindsay family from the 16th century.
